![]() I find the game really shines there for VR players and it's a pretty even playing field with desktop players. As such I would suggest either simulation battles or a lot of practice against AI in the historical missions sessions. I've heard people sing the praise of VR, and there are some concrete VR-only advantages in simulator (VR users get infinite spotting range on enemy planes, VR can be used to aim turrets in helicopters but head trackers can not.), but your ability to visually ID vehicles is going to depend on the resolution of your headset, and is worse than a go. I still play WarThunder a lot, but on my 4k screen. I have a lot of fun with my Rift S but not in WarThunder. ![]() Dont get a VR headset just for WarThunder. BTW the Index has roughly the same pixels per degree as the Rift S because it has a higher FoV. The Vive Pro has a bit more but I doubt its enough. You might be capable but personally as a VR Hotas user and the lower resolution on the Vive, I cant hold a candle to desktop mouse and keyboard players. VR would need much more pixels per degree. It can also be a very hard to compete in VR in Arcade mode. ![]() It's just how it is with VR in War thunder. Some planes (cant comment on tanks though I think they are the same now) have fully rendered cockpits with an animated pilot / commander body, others are just static and very rough looking. Whilst it works fine (imo) Bombers and tanks have only a rough implementation with place holder cockpits so you're gonna get a slightly different experience on a vehicle to vehicle basis. VR was originally implemented just for the planes. I can only suggest you map this to your satisfaction in desktop mode as doing it in VR is a pain in the ass. Whichever one you choose there should be a profile set up for your controller in the settings menu or you can map it as custom controller. It will however work with mouse and keyboard, any game pad, Joystick or HOTAS. Someone may have wrote something to implement Wand support but I've not heard of it if they have. War Thunder does not support motion controllers of any type. Its in the controls settings under Common -> Tracker controls -> Reset tracking position. You can bind a key to 'Reset tracking position' to reset your VR position and rotation. On keyboard it's either v or c (I don't remember but it's one of the two).ĭoes anyone have a rough guide on how to set this up? Also are the controls for this still just mouse, keyboard for seated playing or do you use the vive controllers? There doesnt seem to be a setting for that. ![]() I don't play tanks much (love flying my planes too much) but it's purely a case of changing the camera view. I've seen some people play War Thunder in VR from the commander's hatch of the tank, however I haven't seen any instruction on how to set this up. War Thunder is a bit of a bitch in VR but I'll try to answer your questions. ![]()
